After building the capacity needed for growth, YQB is now equipped to continue its evolution over the coming decades and act as a driver of socioeconomic development. It has put all its effort into diversifying its revenue, optimizing and lowering its expenses, mobilizing its human resources, and engaging its community and stakeholders.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard in Québec and Canada and halted YQB’s momentum. With the borders closed, the airport saw its flights disappear and its revenues crater. While the situation affected the air transportation industry just as severely, the organization stayed the course and stuck with its ambitious vision of maximizing its potential. It temporarily cut back on its activities and prepared for the economic recovery.

YQB turned this forced step back into an opportunity for change, strengthening its relationships with airlines and the local community, involving its teams in its efforts to reduce operating costs, redefining the map of destinations, and completely revamping the commercial offering in the terminal.

Post-pandemic, thanks to its sustained efforts, YQB now offers a richer air service:
- Development of direct connections with Europe, Western Canada and sun destinations
- Stronger presence at the key hubs of airlines operating out of YQB and easier access to major Canadian cities
- The arrival of new airlines
